That has to be one of the most overused first post titles, but it seemed a fitting place to start. My last manager has a son who is a boy scout. This young scout had set out to achieve a traditional boy scout award: the Twelve-month Camping Award. (I’ll call it an award, because I’m not sure if they still get badges.) The premise of the Tweleve-month Camping Award (TMC, from here on) is that the youth goes camping once a month for twelve months… and then gets an award.
I enjoy outdoor activities, such as camping, so I thought the TMC was a pretty sweet idea for the scouts. A sweet idea indeed, but somehow out of the realm of possibility for me. But then one night whilst (yeah, that’s right) walking with my ladyfriend and the dog, I ruminated on this idea. It suddenly occurred to me that there is no reason that I couldn’t do this. My goal was officially set. As of March 2008, I will camp at least once a month for the next twelve months.
One of my friends suggested that I start a blog to chronicle my pursuit. So here it is. Great.
